Pats Cats Etc

History

 Pats cats etc

Pats Cats Etc was formed in 1990 in Oxfordshire.  After six years of cat rescue with Cats Protection League, I decided I wanted to help all animals and established my own voluntary rescue.

It all expands

By 1996 the eighth of an acre behind my Cotswold cottage became too small to house the number of animals arriving almost daily. I therefore decided to move to somewhere with better facilities.  At that time the best location was in Wales where I was able to buy a twelve-acre smallholding.

Its all in the book

The move to Carmarthenshire, with one hundred and fifty animals, took place three days before Christmas and is narrated in my second book, A Cat in Every Corner.  Revenue from this aids all the animals and copies are available directly from the sanctuary at £5.99 plus £1.20 pp.

A change of plan

Soon after arrival I discovered that there are a great many animals who are abandoned when their owners die or are too ill to continue caring for them.  Since then I have concentrated on offering a permanent home to old, sick or terminally animals and those that nobody else will bother with.  I also care for animals whose owners are hospitalised unexpectedly, leaving pets at home.  This is done by liaison with Social Services.
