Sponsorship

Another method for funding is for supporters to sponsor an animal of their choice.  This can be any breed and any sum of money.  It is understood that people would often like to help but appreciated that finances can vary.  It is therefore left to the sponsor to pay whatever they wish.  In return they will receive a photograph and resume of their chosen one and can make contact at any time to enquire after them.  Gifts and further funding are always welcome through the year.

Newsletter

When the sanctuary was first founded a quarterly newsletter was produced for £5 per year.  That figure has never changed and the contact is valuable, keeping supporters informed of all activities, indicating how they can help even from a distance and providing general events.  The subscription runs from January to January regardless of the joining date.  Ideally this is circulated via email which is much quicker and cheaper.  However, there is a snail mail list for those without computers.

Adoption

In view of the nature of the many animals taken in, very few are suitable for re-homing.  Nevertheless, in emergencies, younger animals are offered help and anyone considering adoption is welcome to make contact to enquire if there is a needy pet looking for a forever home.  Home checks are always carried out and a reasonable donation required.  All animals in this instance would be neutered before re-homing.

More fundraising

Caring for approximately two hundred animals at any one time is costly and ideas for fund raising are always welcome.  With just myself and two full time volunteers time is always in short supply and therefore things like car boot sales often take up an impossible amount of time and would take away from caring for the animals.  One suggestion is that supporters might like to consider this as a way of helping and has been a valuable source of income on occasions.

Food donating bins

There are food donating bins in a few shops and these are an extremely good way of helping the sanctuary.  Currently these are sited at the Co-op in Carmarthen, Headington, Oxford and Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire.  In addition there are bins in Llandeilo pet shop and CK’s supermarket, Llandeilo.  Anyone willing to site a bin in their local shop would be most welcome to contact the sanctuary for details.
